International artist describes Melanie Day in every sense of the word. She was born in Somerset England, immigrated to Canada in 1972, graduated from O.C.A.D with a degree in fine arts.Melanie's work has been exhibited in Canada, New York, Mexico, London and Shanghai.
For the past 15 years Melanie has explored figurative, portraiture and landscape painting, mostly with the use of oils on canvas. Inspired by many of the old masters works, with there intensity of color and light, reminiscent of Romanticism. Melanie has worked with color saturation to produce a strong effect of light and depth in her most recent landscapes. With the simplicity of composition, combined with the powerful effects of color and light, the viewer's attention is captured. The viewer is then taken on a magical journey inside the landscape, on a virtual tour.Where skies are fused with Emerald, mustard and Yellow, The land is hot with golden orange and Trees are deliciously dark, within a landscape larger than life; a place where poems are born
