My collages are architectural and abstract, qualities which arise from my background as an architect. Some have a sense of space and perspective and hints of reality, sometimes feeling like aerial views of prairie landscapes or city plans. The organization of shapes, images, lines and colour begins as a random and intuitive process through which similarities and oppositions reveal themselves, symbolic associations may arise, the dots start to connect and gradually everything starts to fit together.
I work with all kinds of papers; painted paper, magazine cutouts, wallpaper, street posters, tracing paper, old drawings, old books, old letraset. The papers are glued on to a wood panel, sealed, and coated with epoxy resin which gives added depth and a shiny, hard finish.
